The final bell echoed across the school campus, shaking the halls with its monotone repetition. The day was over at last. As the students in P.E. F ran to the locker rooms to change, the redheaded girl followed along, slipping into her casual clothes. The jean shorts she wore were rather short and had certainly seen better days. There were several patches on her thighs where the denim had been torn to a stringy hole - not exactly appropriate attire for school, but she didn't really give a shit. Pulling on a black tank and sneakers, she added to her outfit with a loose, dirty white top. It sat on the edges of her shoulders and had a mix of black, red, and pine green paint splatters on the front - a perfect combo for a rebel as she saw herself. She stuffed her gym clothes into her locker before grabbing a hair brush and stroking lazily through her hair. It didn't exactly help her unkempt hair style. She had cut her hair short recently, giving her the tomboyish look she wanted. All of her siblings were boys after all, and escaping their influences was difficult. She grinned into the small mirror attached to the locker door and pulled one last item out before locking it shut.
As she slung her backpack over her shoulder and walked out of the gym, she placed a pair of red headphones over her ears. They were still attached to her iPod, which was blasting some high level rock music into her ears. For a long while, she had considered starting a real rock band, but today was the day she planned to get a start. The Irish girl made her way to the school music room, hands shoved in her pockets as she continued through the hallways. It wasn't until she reached the music room that the girl drew her hands from her pockets. She pushed opened the door and stepped inside, happy to find a vacant space. Satisfied with the solitary peace of the moment, she removed her backpack and dropped it lazily on the floor.
Her next destination was no other than the cabinet of instruments at the back of the room. Inside, she had stored away her precious partners: a fiddle, a tin whistle, and most importantly, a hot red electric guitar embellished with a black flame design. It was her favorite of all the things she had learned to play. She loved the loudness, the vibrations, the echoes... Everything about it just screamed her. With a bright smile, she took the guitar from its case and slung it around her shoulders by a black strap. She then located an amplifier in one corner of the room and moved it to her designated playing spot in the center of the rug. Once everything was set up, she silenced herself and let the music pour into her ears through her headphones. A new song was just about to start - one she knew by heart. Closing her eyes, Eireann waited the last few seconds before finally striking the notes from her instrument.
She was an amazing musician, that was for sure, and her voice was equally as impressive. In no time at all, the entire hallway, and whoever chanced to be there, could hear the melody that blasted from her location.
Manage me, I'm a mess.
Turn a page, I'm a book half unread.
I wanna be laughed at, laughed with, just because
I wanna feel weightless and that should be enough.
But I'm stuck in this fuckin' rut,
Waitin' on a second-hand pick-me-up
And I'm over getting older.
If I could just find the time,
Then I would never let another day go by.
I'm over getting old!
Maybe it's not my weekend but it's gonna be my year
And I'm so sick of watchin' while the minutes pass as I go nowhere
And this is my reaction to everything I fear
'Cause I've been going crazy, I don't wanna waste another minute here!!
